Other map The Other Stage used to be called the NME Stage, which gave a very good idea of what to expect. Guitar-based, noisy pop music basically, sometimes known, depending on changing fashions, as indie, alternative, or even Britpop.

The arena itself is a large flat area with markets down one edge and camping areas around most of the rest of it. It was one of the most horrible places to be in last year's mudfest, with huge mud puddles in the most heavily used areas and sticky gloop covering the rest of it. The bands didn't start playing on Friday until about 7pm (with the exception of The Shirehorses' breakfast set) because the stage was in danger of sinking and the condition of the area in front of the stage was worrying the safety people. Trying to dance to anything was extremely frustrating and tiring, although very good for building up the calf muscles.

Other Stage 1997

There are a few confirmed bands so far, but not many firm dates. Some of the names in the To be arranged section aren't definitely playing the Other stage (marked *), but it seems the likeliest place for them.
