island tour
A minibus tour of the island gives a good flavour of Barbados and leaves the rest of the holiday free for getting married and lazing on beaches.

Even the awesome power of the ocean can't hold our attention.

The rather wild sea and cliffs at North Point, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean.

The same cliffs - detail.

The Atlantic coast - this was taken at Bathsheba - is hardly developed, mostly due to the dangerous currents and tides (people die most years despite the warnings) and the fact that the Caribbean is only ten miles away.

Bathsheba again and one of the wild rock shapes that the Atlantic has carved.

A disused lighthouse on the East Coast. Top marks to Tigger for getting an awesome photo of it.

An abandoned building, next to the lighthouse, with natural roof covering.

Century trees, which grow as fairly low shrubs for most of their lives (about twenty five years rather than the hundred their name suggests) and then put out these huge (twenty to thirty feet) shoots when they flower. Then they die.
